38:1Μετὰ δὲ τὸ παύσασθαι Ἐλιοῦν τῆς λέξεως εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ Ἰὼβ διὰ λαἰλαπος καὶ νεφῶν
38:2Τἰς οὗτος ὁ κρύπτων με βουλήν, συνέχων δὲ ῥήματα ἐν καρδία, ἐμὲ δὲ οἴεται κρύπτειν;
38:3ζῶσαι ὥσπερ ἀνὴρ τὴν ὀσφύν σου. ἐρωτήσω δέ, σὺ δέ μοι ἀποκρίθητι.
38:4ποῦ ἧς ἐν τῷ θεμελιοῦν με τὴν γῆν; ἀπάγγειλον δέ μοι, εἰ ἐπίστῃ σύνεσιν.
38:5τις ἔθτο τὰ μέτρα αὐτῆς, εἰ οἶδας; ἢ τίς ὁ ἐπαγαγὼν σπαρτίον ἐπʼ αὐτῆς;
38:6ἐπὶ τίος οἱ κρίκοι αὐτῆς πεπήγασινς τἰς δέ ἐστιν ὁ βαλὼν λίθον γωνιαῖον ἐπʼ αὐτῆς;
38:14ἢ σὺ λαβὼν γῆν πηλὸν ἔπλασας ζῶον, καὶ λαλητὸν αὐτὸν ἔθου ἐπὶ γῆς;
38:15ἀφεῖλας δὲ ἀπὸ ἀσεβῶν τὸ φῶς, βραχίονα δὲ ὑπερηφάνων συνέτριψας;
38:16ᾖλθες δὲ ἐπὶ πηγὴν θαλάσσης, ἐν δὲ ἵχνεσιν ἀβύσσου περιεπάτησας
38:17ἀνοἰγονται δέ σοι φόβῳ πύλαι θανάτου, πυλωροὶ δὲ ἄδου ἰδόντες σε ἔπτηξαν;
38:18νενουθέτησαι δὲ τὸ εὖρος τῆς ὑπʼ οὐρανόν; ἀνάγγειλον δή μοι πόση τίς ἐστιν.
38:19ποἰᾳ δὲ γῆ αὐλἰζεται τὸ φῶς, σκότους δὲ ποῖος ὁ τόπος;
38:20εἰ ἀγάγοις με εἰς ὄρια αὐτῶν; εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπίστασαι τρίβους αὐτῶν
38:21οἶδα ἄρα ὅτι τότε γεγέννησαι, ἀριθμὸς δὲ ἐτῶν σου πολύς.
38:22ἦλθες δὲ ἐπὶ θησαυροὺς χιόνος, θησαυροὺς δὲ χαλάζης ἑόρακας;
38:23ἀπόκειται δέ σοι εἰς ὥραν ἐχθρῶν, εἰς ἡμέραν πολέμων καὶ μάχης;
38:24πόθεν δὲ ἐκπορεύεται πάχνη, ἢ διασκεδάννυται νότος εἰς τὴν ὑπʼ οὐρανόν;
38:25τἰς δὲ ἡτοἴμασεν ὑετῷ λάβρῳ ῥύσιν, ὁδὸν δὲ κυδοιμῶν,
38:26τοῦ ὑετίσαι ἐπὶ γῆν οὗ οὐκ ἀνήρ, ἔρημον οὗ οὐχ ὑπάρχει ἄνθρωπος ἐν αὐτῇ,
38:27τοῦ χορτάσαι ἄβατον καὶ ἀοίκητον, καὶ τοῦ ἐκβλαστῆσαι ἔξοδον χλόης;
38:28τἰς ἐστιν ὑετοῦ πατήρ; τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ τετοκὼς βώλους δρόσου;
38:29ἐκ γαστρὸς δὲ τίνος ἐκπορεύεται ὁ κρύσταλλος; πάχνην δὲ ἐν οὐρανῷ τίς τέτοκεν
38:30ἢ καταβαίνει ὥσπερ ὕδωρ ῥέον; πρόσωπον δὲ ἀσεβοῦς τἰς ἔπτηξεν;
38:31συνῆκας δὲ δεσμὸν Πλειάδος, καὶ φραγμὸν Ὠρἰωνος ἤνοιξας
38:32ἢ διανοίξεις Μαζουρὼθ ἐν καιρῷ αὐτοῦ, καὶ Ἕσπερον ἐπὶ κόμης αὐτοῦ, ἄξεις αὐτά
38:33ἐπίστασαι δὲ τροπὰς οὐρανοῦ ἢ τὰ ὑπʼ οὐρανὸν ὁμοθυμαδὸν γινόμενα;
38:34καλέσεις δὲ νέφος φωνῇ, καὶ τρόμῳ ὕδατος λάβρῳ ὑπακούσεταί σου;
38:35ἀποστελεῖς δὲ κεραυνοὺς καὶ πορεύσονται ἐροῦσν δέ σοι Τί ἐστιν;

What the layers are

L0 witness
The text as its witness or edition has it, original spelling; its dialect is a description and is never standardized.
L0.5 transliteration
For Egyptian texts: the transliteration with the editors' marks turned into the symbols ° * < > _ ^ (ruled 2026-09-10). For papyri: the edition's Leiden marks as the same symbols, and the editors' readings beside the scribe's as ‹scribe→editors› (ruled PAP-3).
L1 Cairene
Standardized Greco-Bohairic spelling and grammar, generated by code from the layer above under the rulings of the project.
L2 Kemetic
The Kemetic alphabet, generated by code from L1.
English
Quoted translations where they exist, credited; otherwise model drafts, marked as drafts.
