And he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tharsis: and he paid his fare, and went up into it, to sail with them to Tharsis from the presence of the Lord.

But Jonas was gone down into the hold of the ship, and was asleep, and snored.
1:6ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϯⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓⲡⲛⲉⲉϥ ⲉⲧϩⲓϩⲏ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲕϩⲣϩⲣ : ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ '[ⲛ]ⲅⲉⲡⲉⲓⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲉϣⲁⲕ ⲉϥⲉⲛⲁϩⲙⲛ ⲛϭⲓⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲧⲙⲙⲟⲩ :ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϯⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉ̀ⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲡ̀ⲛⲉϥ ⲉⲧϩⲓϩⲏ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ ⲕ̀ϩⲣϩⲣ: ⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̀ⲅⲉⲡⲓⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲛ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲙⲉϣⲁⲕ ⲉϥⲉ̀ⲛⲁϩⲙⲛ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲧⲉⲙⲙⲟⲩ:ouoh aftipefouoi èrof ǹje p̀nef et·hihy efgō m̀mos naf je eθve ou ǹθok k̀·hrhr: tōoun ǹgepikalei ǹpeknouti meṡak efènahmn ǹje peknouti ǹtetenṡtemmou:And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him, Why snorest thou? arise, and call upon thy God, that God may save us, and we perish not.
1:7ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲱϥ ϫⲉⲁⲙⲏⲉⲓⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲛⲛⲉϫⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲁⲣⲛⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲧⲉⲓⲕⲁϭⲓⲁ ϩⲓϫ[ⲱⲛ] : ⲁⲩⲛⲉϫⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲡⲉⲕⲗ[ⲏⲣⲟⲥ] ⲉⲓ ⲉϫⲛⲓⲱⲛⲁⲥ :ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡ̀ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡ̀ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲛ̀ⲡⲉⲧϧⲁⲑⲟⲩϥ ϫⲉ ⲁ̀ⲙⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲉϫⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲁⲣⲛⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛ̀ϩⲱⲃ ⲧⲁⲓⲕⲁⲕⲓⲁ ϩⲓϫⲱⲛ: ⲁⲩⲛⲉϫⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ ⲡ̀ⲕ̀ⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲓ̀ ⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ ⲓⲱⲛⲁⲥ:pejep̀ouai p̀ouai ǹpetxaθouf je àmou ǹtetennegklyros tarnemi je eθve ou ǹhōb taikakia higōn: avnegklyros ouoh a p̀k̀lyros ì èjen iōnas:And each man said to his neighbour, Come, let us cast lots, and find out for whose sake this mischief is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonas.
