Licence: public domain — René Basset (d. 1924), Le Synaxaire arabe jacobite (rédaction copte), Patrologia Orientalis vol. 11 (Toubeh, Amchir); public domain by age (LICENCES.md author-death-year rule, verified death year ≤ 1971); scan from archive.org, identifier patrologiaorient11pariuoft, fetched 2026-09-10; no licenseurl, no rights and no possible-copyright-status on this University of Toronto scan; ⚑ NOT RECLASSIFIED — READ THIS: this scan is the WHOLE of tome XI, and Basset edited only its fascicle V (the Synaxaire, Toubeh–Amchir). The tome's own title page (the scan's text layer) lists I. A. Vasiliev, Kitab al-ʿUnvan of Agapius of Menbidj (I, 2); II. F. Vanderstuyf, La vie de saint Luc le stylite; III. E. Porcher, Histoire d'Isaac, patriarche jacobite d'Alexandrie (the Bohairic Vie d'Isaac, Coptic text and French translation; imprimatur 3 April 1914); IV. F. Nau, Ammonas, successeur de saint Antoine (Nau d. 1931, LICENCES.md §7); V. R. Basset. The death years of Vasiliev, Vanderstuyf and PORCHER ARE NOT VERIFIED, so this `public` class rests on Basset (fascicle V) and Nau (IV) only: fascicles I–III are public domain in the US by age (printed before 1930) but their CANADIAN status is unverified until those three death years are established — do not redistribute fascicles I–III, Porcher's Coptic text included, on the strength of this line (outputs/REPORT-REBUILD-PREP.md)

1The Coptic-year months Toubeh, Amchir. Verified by counting each fascicle's own month names in its text layer — each volume holds the fascicle it should and no other volume does. ⚑ READ THIS BEFORE USING IT: the wish list wants the Synaxarion for the PROPER NAMES that block the Kemetic letter rules (open item C1). Basset prints the ARABIC recension with a French translation, so the Coptic saints' names arrive in Arabic script and in Basset's French transcription, NOT in Coptic. That fixes the calendar and the name inventory for the whole year but cannot by itself settle a Coptic spelling. Forget's Synaxarium Alexandrinum (CSCO, Arabic + Latin) is lending-restricted on archive.org and was SKIPPED by the 2026-09-11 ruling. PO 20, Basset's index fascicle, exists on archive.org only inside a 6.8 GB bundle and was not taken.

What the layers are

L0 witness
The text as its witness or edition has it, original spelling; its dialect is a description and is never standardized.
L0.5 transliteration
For Egyptian texts: the transliteration with the editors' marks turned into the symbols ° * < > _ ^ (ruled 2026-09-10). For papyri: the edition's Leiden marks as the same symbols, and the editors' readings beside the scribe's as ‹scribe→editors› (ruled PAP-3).
L1 Cairene
Standardized Greco-Bohairic spelling and grammar, generated by code from the layer above under the rulings of the project.
L2 Kemetic
The Kemetic alphabet, generated by code from L1.
English
Quoted translations where they exist, credited; otherwise model drafts, marked as drafts.
