1THE LATEST ORIGINAL BOHAIRIC COMPOSITION — the martyrdom of John of Phanijōit (d. 1209), Bohairic text with the French translation under each block; the only public-domain edition (Zaborowski 2005 is Brill's). ⚑ THE SCAN IS THE WHOLE JOURNAL VOLUME (555 pp): the article is PDF PAGES 120–197 (p. 120 rendered = its first page, "UN DOCUMENT COPTE DU XIIIe SIÈCLE … par M. E. Amélineau"; p. 198 = Bergaigne's Rig-Veda article) and only those pages are OCR'd (--pages 120-197). Verified on archive.org leaf n160 = printed p. 154: ⲡⲓⲙⲁⲣⲧⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲡⲓⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ … ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϣⲁⲩϣⲱ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲣⲧⲩⲣⲓⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲕⲩⲣⲓⲁⲕⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛ ⲃⲱϩⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛ ⲯⲁⲗⲓ, ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ — 13th-century Bohairic (corpus/incoming/_logs/wboh_samples/ja9_leaf-n160_p154.jpg).

What the layers are

L0 witness
The text as its witness or edition has it, original spelling; its dialect is a description and is never standardized.
L0.5 transliteration
For Egyptian texts: the transliteration with the editors' marks turned into the symbols ° * < > _ ^ (ruled 2026-09-10). For papyri: the edition's Leiden marks as the same symbols, and the editors' readings beside the scribe's as ‹scribe→editors› (ruled PAP-3).
L1 Cairene
Standardized Greco-Bohairic spelling and grammar, generated by code from the layer above under the rulings of the project.
L2 Kemetic
The Kemetic alphabet, generated by code from L1.
English
Quoted translations where they exist, credited; otherwise model drafts, marked as drafts.
